Manaras-Opera complies to ANSI/CAN/UL 325:2020
On August 29th, 2010, the United States ANSI/UL325 requirements for Commercial Door Operators was revised. The CDO's must monitor an external entrapment protection device (photo cells, sensing edge) or must function in constant-pressure-to-close, in order bear a NRTL mark (UL, CSA).
The 2023 update was brought forth in the Canadian market and there were no changes implemented in the US market. For many years, the Canadian and US markets had different manufacturing standards for Commercial/Industrial garage door operators. The Standard Council of Canada decided that the CAN-CSA C22.2 No.247-14 standard should be withdrawn. As such, effective March 1, 2023, both the US and Canadian markets will share the same binational standard, this being ANSI/CAN/UL325.
As of March 1, 2023, Manaras-Opera will follow these best practices and will no longer be selling Electro-Mechanical (0) Version and Electronic (E) Version operators to the Canadian market. We will continue to offer the Electronic Monitored (M) operators, which include the monitoring function, as well an external entrapment protection device (ie: photoelectric cells). The Electronic Monitored (M) operators met, and continue to meet, the ANSI/CAN/UL 325 standard, as indicated by the Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) mark on our operator’s nameplate.
